"Focus on Green Energy" Editorial

Aug 18, 2010
I recently submitted an editorial to the local Gazette newspaper on the state of green electricity in EA's home county of Montgomery in Maryland. It was just published in today's edition.

It's a very short read, as it had to come in at 200 words to satisfy the editorial page requirements. When I submitted it, I think I had something like 198 words in it. Yes, I do push the envelope. You can click through to it here.

The inspiration for the editorial came from a blog post on the topic I wrote at the beginning of June. I just needed to whittle it down to that 200-word limit and submit it, which I did a few weeks back.

If you want to get a full view of the situation, I suggest you read the Gazette editorial first, then read my blog post. Overall, though, the situation is not great.

One quick word on green power rates. As electricity prices have dropped, so have the rates for our sources of green energy (both residential and commercial). While it hurts more to go green in MoCo, other areas where the county's energy tax is less (or there is no tax) can definitely benefit.

You can see our residential pricing at our Residential page; for details on commercial green energy, please contact me here at EA.

Even our residential natural gas offering has gotten green (or a bit greener, depending on how you feel about natural gas being "green"). We'll have details on how that works next week.
